What is the purpose of a music video?

Music videos help to promote a band/track to a younger and wider music audience, having a music video can make the song more well known and successful in the music charts, and of course this will do the band good when they release another song as already there is an association.
Music videos are there also to tell a story, enhance the lyrics and express the emotions of the song.

Looking for music

For the coursework it is essential that the music is non-copyright, thankfully there are a few websites on the internet we can look at for example http://www.unsigned.com/ and http://www.newgrounds.com/ . Websites like these are full of unsigned artists whose songs we can request to use for our coursework.
At the momment I'm just looking to see what one I want to use for the coursework on the first website mentioned for any songs that catch my ears!

Coursework Brief

For the coursework we have to create a music 'promo' video, that is up to five minutes maximum, either working alone or with others (maximum 4 in a group).
We also have to create a 'digipak' for its release on DVD as well as design a magazine advertisement for the DVD.
After creating the music video I will provide a critical evaluation on the blog as well as  include research and planning; but I will doing that whilst the music video is in production.

Welcome!

Welcome to my music video blog!
On this blog I will be blogging my progress of creating and producing my very own music video, I am very passionate about music and my work and can't wait to start the coursework.
I will try and make my blog posts and page as interactive as I can, until then keep posted!
